Oh Happy Day

Happy Martin Luther King Junior Day..

Me and Tdot were just reminiscing last night about the past MLK Days we had. About a couple years back when I was still in a Catholic School, mostly whites...

Yes I said whites, not Caucasian, not White people..whites. Is that being a racist? If it isn't it definitely should be. Yesterday will cooking breakfast, I switched on Hot 97. I guess it was the Cipha/Rosenberg Experience that was on. This white guy, Rosenberg was on there ranting and raving about how the Black people need to stop being angry. He says we're angered because we think that no change will happen for us, and that we're still mad about slavery, or something on the lines of that. So I'm standing there with the spoon in my hand tapping it against my chin, like how the hell does this man know what Black people are mad about? How dare he say all Black people are mad? I'm certainly not, well not at this moment in time. And when I am mad it definitely isn't about slavery, unless some white guy wants the come on the radio and talks about it. And then poor Cipha, whom you could hear the 'aw shit this cracker's gunna get me fired' in his voice, was like "Wow, it sound like you about the Blacks?!" And then this white man goes and says, "Well yeah! I'll say it! The Blacks need to support Obama! The Blacks.....[thinks to himself, how should I justify this] the Whites, the Asians, they all need to support Obama!" I start to tap my spoon harder. Rosenberg then says, "The Rico Suaves, the Lee Johns, they all need to support Obama." I was like woowwww, on the radio, man? NO wonder he's a "Low Budget Represent!" Anyway, back to my muth-fff*ng story....

So I was going to a White school, and Tdot was going to the public school our town, mostly Black. Neither one of us had MLK day off. So we eagerly convinced out parents to let us take the day off, if we'd do some type of project having to do with Martin Luther King. So they agreed, and we started on our project. It was a shitty little project, but it meant something. We basically cut and pasted all our information and drew pictures, slapped some glitter on the shit and called it a day. But when we presented the project, suddenly all the information, dates, and facts came to mind. We knew what he did, how he did it, when he did it, and why it meant so much to us. Point of the story is, today I'm celebrating this day by playing Rock Band. When a couple years ago when I was yae high, I was really appreciating what a man he was. Well what does that say to you today?
